When talking about Brigadiers as the drum corps, we speak of three eras of time for the corps:
Pre-Brigadiers/PLAV: From 1938 - 1954, the corps was a junior corps organized by the Polish Legion of American Veterans (PLAV) Post 14 in Syracuse.
Brigadiers 1.0: After the merger of The Boys from Syracuse, The Cortland Moose, and The Sons of American Legion Post 14, the corps became a senior corps Under the sponsorship of PLAV Post 14 and American Legion Post 1677. This spans the years 1954-1973
Brigadiers 2.0: This spans the parade corps year of 1991 through the competitive seasons from 1992 to 2009, where the corps was resurrected and rose to prominence in DCA with 5 world championships and several years in the top 5.
