Welcome to THE BRIGADIERS!
Celebrating our 70th anniversary in 2024, The Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps were 5-time Drum Corps Associates World Champions, winning titles in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2002, having achieved the past record high score of 98.6 in 2002. With roots dating to 1938, Through the 50's 60's and early 70's as well as the 90's and 00's, The Brigadiers were consistently an innovative leader in advancing the all-age drum corps activity during our active seasons.
The Brigadiers Winter Guard is a 10-time WGI finalist, making finalist 5 years in a row. We also compete in the NECG and MYCG circuits. In 2019, the guard competed for the first time in Independent World at WGI.
The Brigadiers currently have the following programs active:
Syracuse Brigadiers Alumni Association:
The Brigadiers Alumni Association is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to support the marching musical arts community in Central New York, including support for the Brigadiers Winter Guard and related projects as necessary, scholarships for students of the activity, and goodwill and support for the alumni of all Brigadiers alumni, regardless of generation.
The leadership of the Alumni Association is made up of alumni of the organization who volunteer their time, treasure and talent to supporting its' fundraising efforts and outreach opportunities.
Representing the alumni of the drum corps and winter guard, the Board of Directors and members of the association sponsor the Brigadiers Winter Guard, continue to support marching arts programs in Central New York through scholarships and donations, and sponsor social events for Brigadiers and other drum corps alumni throughout the year.
The Alumni Association does this partly through hosting BINGO every Wednesday at the Cicero American Legion to support our mission. Click here for information about the Alumni Association, and here for information about BINGO every Wednesday.
Brigadiers Winter Guard:
The Winter Guard returns in 2026 after a hiatus after the COVID pandemic to competition in the Mid York Color Guard Circuit and Winter Guard International. The guard has competed in Independent Open and World classes throughout its incarnations and will be kicking off their 2026 season shortly. Click here for more information.
Scholarship Programs for the marching arts:
Throughout the year we donate to school marching band and winter guard programs around Central New York. We also give scholarships for students who march winter guard and indoor drumline in the Mid York Color Guard Circuit and Northeast Color Guard Circuit, as well as local marching members of Drum Corps International who march in World, Open and All-Age (formerly Drum Corps Associates) classes.
For our purposes, these scholarships are restricted to "Local" and "Central New York" marching age students. "Local" and "Central New York" is defined as within a 50-mile radius of Syracuse, NY. Applicants who are "legacy" of past marching members/alumni are also allowed to apply.
Donations for neighboring local organizations:
As good neighbors, we also make charitable donations to local organizations who serve our community, such as Dollars for Scholars, Cicero Fire Department, and Hope for Heather among others.
